How can we improve Mudbox?

  1. Add the Modeling tool kit (AKA) Maya to Mudbox

    This will solve all the Hard Surface and retopo problems and make Mudbox a more robust modelling and sculpting package. This will free up modeling base in Maya, 3ds Max, etc. etc. Along with Unfold 3D and remesher and a PBR view port we are all set.

  2. Ability to control size and strength of grab tool with pen pressure.

    On my version of Mudbox, I can change these parameters on almost every sculpting tool except for "grab"!

    How about a feature that calculates spatial info? Density, symmetry point, mass, volume, etc.

  4. 3D Printing Mode

    How about if a 3D Printing Mode? I'm fed up of exporting to *.obj and going to Blender to make a hollow 3D Model. Mudbox should be able to print 3D things! Even Adobe Photoshop can do that!

    - Auto Hollow -> Make things hollow
    - Viability Prediction -> Predicts if something can be printed (Blender does this!)
    - Integration with 3D Printing Service

  5. Nvidia CUDA/AMD OpenGL Acceleration

    How about CUDA acceleration? Can Mudbox use this? Also test consumer and mobile GPUs too.

  6. Freeze vertices on single axis

    It would be nice to freeze vertices to keep their place on just single axis.

    So for example, if you wan´t to sculpt something growing up from the ground, you would be able to freeze only y-axis of the vertices you wan´t to keep on the ground plane.

  7. Ubuntu and Debian based OS support

    Mudbox already runs great in RHEL based systems packed with rpm, it would be great to get it on the Debian side with deb.

  11. Move the sculpt without moving the mesh

    Example, we have a horn on one object, but the artist have not respect the mesh fot that relief.
    You cannot move the horn without affect the mesh. Now you can move it with GRAB and some extra tools, but maybe could exist a tool that can move a sculpt keeping the mesh unchanged.
    In a small example, its like a bug under the skin, the bug moves under the skin, but its not changing the grid structure.
    Of course its moving up or dawn, but not moving.
    Difficult to express the idea...

  12. Rescale brush size slider to suite current size

    When working with models of very small scale requiring brush sizes in the .01 range, the size slider becomes unusable. It would be handy to have its range rescale so that it is always +/- an order of magnitude. Or if not automatic rescaling (which may have problems of its own) just a way of setting the slider range manually.

  13. Curves like vectors

    In Mudbox 2012, curves were like vectors, but from 2014, the curves controls have other options.
    It will be fantastic to be able again to control some curves like vectors, with bezier, smooth, etc.

  14. Move the mesh without moving the sculpt

    The extra tool its to preserve de sculpt and move the mesh.
    You got a piece of sculpture that its not applicable with the grid mesh, with the loops, or poligons inclination.
    You could move the poligons without changing de surface modeling.

  15. Intergrate 123d Sculpt mesh creation into Mudbox

    I am a regular user of Mudbox, and for all it's strengths it does fall short when it comes to quick custom mesh creation. The modelling pipeline has for some time now turned to sculpting packages for fast model concept generation, but usually turn to zBrush as its mesh handling and object creation is more flexible.

    Autodesk distribute an app 123d Sculpt which has a very power mesh building method, I'm assuming voxel based when creating the initial skeleton. Having this integrated into the Mudbox package would make it much more concept friendly and allow for endless creativity.

    Add a turn table feature just like pottery makers have and using the push and pull method to give shape to the model.

  18. bone based sculpting

    Bone base sculpting for characters not quite like zbrush does it. Basically you have the bone hierarchy and you push outward from the center of the bone based on a cylinder. If you have multiple bones meta between them based on their parent child relationship. Pose it and then sculpt on it. Hide the ones you don't need at the moment lets say your making a character and your working on the feet you might want to hide the rest of the mesh to just work on the feet.   19. Dynamesh / Dynamic Tessellation

    With this option the sculpting process will be incredible awsome, be cause if you import a base mesh, you can sculpt very fast without to do retopology everytime.

  20. 8k Texture Paint Layer Creation support OSX Mudbox 2016

    On nMacpro with AMD D700's running OSX 10.10.3 in Mudbox 2016 there is no option to create 8k texturemap layers.
